The winner is, Charley Streather with his Winter Robin image.

You’ve all posted excellent entries which has made judging extremely difficult!

Thank you to all who took part, and if you’re one of the group who is yet to participate, please don’t be shy, we’d love to see your pictures.

The next challenge is Spring which is a great time of year to get out and capture all sorts of shots, so no rush, give it some thought, and we look forward to seeing the results!

Winter Theme Competition 2016/17

Gold-Star First Prize

Winter Robin by Charley Streather

Charley has made great use of the sun to light this magnificent Robin which is tack sharp and lovely to see all the details of his feathers.  The red breast of the Robin contrasts well with the pleasing blue sky in the background.

Gold-StarHighly commended

Lonely Walker by Brian Chenier

A lovely moody composition from Brian with nice colours (blues through orange to yellow) in the pre-dawn sky, good detail and effect of the misty grass. A level horizon and the main tree is well positioned using rule of thirds.

Gold-StarHighly commended

Snow Ponies by Kev Bryant

I really liked this image as it conveys how the hardy little ponies are wonderfully adapted to the harsh wintery conditions that they frequently face. The monochrome image style also does a great job of focusing the attention on the subjects.  Also I have to hold my hands up, I love little ponies, they always make me smile!
