Veterans’ Images on Parade 2018
a. The East Anglia region of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity will be staging a photography exhibition to take place over the period February-March 2018. Called Veterans’ Images on Parade (VIOP 2018), it will comprise images taken and donated electronically, and thus at no cost to themselves, by photographers throughout the United Kingdom who are registered as disabled or blind British Army veterans.
Approaches have been made to those in charge of occupational therapy/activities departments at Blesma, Combat Stress and Blind Veterans UK, all of whom use photography as therapy for their patients. A number of the latter continue with it after they return to the community – i.e. Blesma has a large photography group with its own website at www.blesmaphotography.org. Very positive responses have been received from the heads of these departments who have offered to publicise the event throughout their respective charities.
b. The aims of VIOP 2018 are twofold:
i. To raise funds for The Soldiers’ Charity
ii. To raise the profile of the charity and its work in supporting those charities looking after disabled and blind Army veterans.
2. On-line Shop & Travelling Roadshow/Exhibition
VIOP 2018 will comprise two elements:
a. An online shop (as opposed to an auction site) at www.jumblebee.co.uk where all donated images will be on display for sale to the public from 1 February to 25 March 2018.
b. A travelling roadshow/exhibition comprising 100 printed images selected from all those donated. This will be on display at Colchester, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Cambridge with a two-week interval between them. In each case, there will be a reception and preview on a Thursday evening, followed by a two-day exhibition. In Colchester and Cambridge, the exhibition will be for one day only.

The event will be by invitation only, with regional and local media invited. This will be followed by a two-day exhibition on the Friday and Saturday, entrance to which will be free of charge. In Colchester and Cambridge, the exhibition will be for one day only
6. Photographers’ Eligibility
Eligibility to take part in VIOP 2018 is limited to photographers who are British Army veterans registered as disabled or blind. Photographers will be required to complete an entry form giving their details, including regiments or corps in which they served, confirmation that they are registered as blind or disabled, and giving formal permission for their images to be printed and sold up to a maximum of ten prints per image.
a. Colour or monochrome images to be submitted electronically, and thus at no cost to participating photographers, as high resolution TIF files to be sized 42.0 cm x 29.70 cm with resolution set at 300 dpi. These should be sent via www.wetransfer.com to the Regional Director East Anglia, Peter Harclerode, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
b. The exhibition is open to a wide range of genres, including: landscape, wildlife, botanical, macro, close-up, still life, portrait, conceptual/fine art, abstract, architectural, action, sport, event, reportage, travel, infra-red, time-lapse, underwater, night and astrophotography.
Note: Military or conflict images will not be accepted.
c. The deadline for submissions is Thursday 30 November 2017.
d. All donated images will be displayed on-line at www.jumblebee.co.uk from Thursday 1 February 2018 until Sunday 25 March 2018. Each image sold will be printed, using the Giclée method, on fine art grade photographic paper, mounted on card and cellophane wrapped. Each print will feature on the rear of its mount the image’s caption, photographer’s details and his/her copyright information. Should orders be received for more than one print per image, the number of reprints of any one image will be limited to ten throughout the entire duration of the exhibition.
b. As mentioned above in serial 2b, 100 images will be selected by a panel of judges, to form the travelling roadshow/exhibition. These will also be Giclée printed on fine art grade photographic paper, mounted on card and cellophane wrapped.
e. Immediately following VIOP 2018, all donated electronic images will be deleted by the Regional Director East Anglia.
